Top Tips to Help You When Going on a Road Trip with Your Pet

All road trip enthusiasts must have thought of wonderful ways of traveling to various places, and enjoy the thrill of driving.

Yet have you thought of going on a road trip alone with your favourite pet? Perhaps you could bring your cuddly dog or your nice cute cat? Don’t you think they deserve some fun too? I thought so too and last week I was out with my very own Dalmatian on a trip through the highways! For my decision, Triptromp served a great help.

Let me bring out some tips for you for the road trip, so that you could have a great time with your pet too!

For taking your pet out, know that the road you are taking has some places where your pet can visit. For example there are restaurants in the U.S. where one can take their pet, there are hotels where one can stay with their pet or purely there are amusement parks sometimes, exclusively for pets. In fact, studies suggest that over 82% of dog owners travel with their pets in their car.

Also, do remember, taking your pet on a road trip successfully out isn’t that easy a thing to accomplish.

  1. Plan Early

You need to start planning from before a month. For starters, if you have your pet identification number, it’s fine, otherwise now it’s time to get one. Remember to buy a first aid kit for your pet. Consider buying a harness for your pet to sit, while in the car.

  1. Go to the vet

A check-up to the vet doctor before the trip would be ideal, and vaccines of rabies (for a dog) and other common diseases could be taken care of. The rabies vaccine certificate might come in handy if you board your dog in the car and the police want to see if your pet is fine. Also ensure that you have enough food for the pet while on the trip.

  1. Bring some water

If necessary, purchase packaged drinking water for your pet, as they might otherwise get sick with water from outside. Dogs cannot go long without water. In fact, studies suggest that absence of water over extended periods of time can affect their general well-being.

During the road trip, give your pet a chance to relieve itself every few hours. While on the road trip, never leave your pet alone. Tie a seat belt too, just in case your lovely buddy decides to venture out on its own. After doing all this, don’t forget to have a great road trip!
